If you were just getting into hip-hop I wouldn’t blame you for not knowing who the fuck lil boosie is. As a matter of fact, before I published this article I had to explain to some of the back-office guys that boosie is actually a rapper and not just a meme.

Even those of us who have Bad Azz on our iPods can forget about boosie until that shit shows up on shuffle… or if one of the best running backs in the NFL refuses to talk about anything except his cleats and lil boosie.

Marshawn Lynch has been notorious for dodging the media, earning him $100,000 in fines for violating the leagues policy on players making themselves available to the media. Trying to avoid another fine, Lynch took time out after the Seahawks win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday to answer some questions: though not necessarily ones that he was asked.

Check out my girl at 1:54, “Questions about lil boosie? We could talk about that.”, referencing Lynch’s interview last week at practice. What a Dumbass. I’m new to this whole journalism thing, and have no idea who that lady is, but I’d bet my car on the fact that she had no follow-up question. Did you really want to discuss boosie with Marshawn Lynch? Not a single reporter in that locker room was qualified to ask that question, yet the NFL keeps denying my request for press credentials. Beast Mode acknowledges her hard-hitting question only by correcting her pronunciation.

Another reporter asked Lynch what song hypes him up on the bus. His answer: No Juice.

These shout-outs are big for boosie, from whom we’ve heard little more than crickets since the social media shit storm that was his release from prison. This interview is getting viral coverage and boosie should be happy to be along for the ride.

Check out the Google Trends for the search term: “no juice.” The big spike starts around the time of that interview.

Boosie gets a 5 point bump courtesy of SCR honorary analyst, Marshawn Lynch, with the hope that he remains relevant enough for me to stop forgetting he’s a person.

Side note: in that same interview last week, Marshawn shouted out another artist, Lil June. Remind me that I owe June 5 points too; as soon as I figure out who the fuck that is.

As you may recall from my reoccurring sports column entitled: “Which NBA Owner is Making Racist Remarks Now”, last month, former Atlanta Hawks owner Bruce Levenson decided to sell the team after a racist email surfaced that he had written in 2012. For a team who is currently writing the playbook on mediocre basketball, and who’s game attendance has been steadily declining for the better part of a decade, the last thing you need is a race scandal that alienates 54% of the city’s population. That is why Atlanta Hawks CEO Steve “Stevie K” Koonin has decided to make a change.

Instead of the Hawks Home Opener on November 1st, Philips Arena will host Grammy Award winning recording artist, T.I. for a live concert complete with two 24-minute intermissions of NBA basketball (where the Hawks will take on the Pacers). Koonin and T.I. took to Twitter to share this video with fans:

T.I. has now spent enough time in the endorsement penalty box that his brand is back below the toxic levels that forced Chevrolet and Rémy Martin to cut ties following his 2007 Federal weapons charges. As far as this partnership, the Hawks’ front office seems hopeful that the multi-platinum artist will help their image in the community.

Some fans have been quick to call T.I. a “sell-out” over the promotion, arguing he shouldn’t be supporting the Hawks in light of the recent race scandal. If you are paying any attention, you’ll notice that the league and the Hawks organization have handled the situation as best as could be expected, and are taking steps to correct problems in the club’s culture. For cryin’ out loud: Koonin is even creating a C-Suite Position called “Chief Diversity Officer.” (Where do I apply?)

Every endorsement deal toe’s the line between “cashing in” and “selling out,” but this one falls on the right side of justice.

As far as I’m concerned, this is a non-story– just a fucking hilarious video.
