The American Music Awards have existed since 1973, when ABC decided they wanted their own music awards show. Ever since then it has been a symbol of… something… Let’s just move on.

I don’t really know what the differences between the AMAs, The Grammy’s, and the MTV Music Awards really are, but I suspect that they are more or less the same. All three are aimed at getting the widest audience possible and so we get a who’s who of Taylor Swifts and One Directions and whoever else is relevant enough to make white kids happy, but not edgy enough to frighten their parents. This is, after all, a program that was started by Dick Clark.

But every now and then we get a moment that cuts through the blandness and validates our watching what is an otherwise uninteresting 4(ish) hours of TV. That moment came last night courtesy of YG.

The Krazy Life rapper delivered his appropriately west coast verse on Fergie’s “L.A. Love (la la)” which can be seen below.

If you haven’t spotted the moment that I’m talking about I’ll make it a little easier for you.

That’s a blood walk. In front of 11.6 million viewers

Now, YG has always been open about his affiliation and has been know to do the walk at shows but this is a different story. This is YG being who he is in front of the whole country. This is YG not giving a fuck about censors. This is realness that deserves a +20 boost.

So Chris Brown has recently been associating with the LA Bloods, more specifically the Fruit Town Piru set. This has been going on for a while, with Brown throwing signs, giving shout outs, and tagging walls. My first thought upon seeing this was wondering what to wear to CB’s funeral. Dudes get killed for pretending to be part of a set without earning it.

But it looks like my black suit and funeral-Jordans (Oh, y’all haven’t picked those up yet?) will be staying in my closet for another day. On Saturday, TMZ reported that members of that very same set (who obviously went unnamed) say they’re cool with Brown repping their colors, despite him not actually being a Blood, per se.

Apparently Brown has hired some Bloods for security, shot videos in their neighborhood and even goes down to hang sometimes. It is at this point that I would like to issue a plea to the city’s more… blue-leaning citizens:

Guys please, let’s put the gangbanging on hold whenever CB is in town. I know that nobody wants to do anything that might jeopardize the planned release of X this fall, right? Okay, thank you. I figure we were on the same page here, but I thought it was important for us to have this talk.

My concern for Chris’ well being aside, I’ll have to dock him points for this. Even if the Bloods are okay with him acting it, he is not an initiated member and has no history of gang activity. Realness has always been the central tenant of SCR and what I’m taking from this is confirmation that CB is not a Blood, even though he tries to make it seem otherwise. I want to say -50, but because he does have the Red-Okay, I’ll make it -40.
