It was announced today that 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson aka Pimpin’ Curly) would be starring in (and executive producing) his own Fox Comedy. It will be called My Friend 50, and I think I might have been the one who thought up this idea in a column a few months back.

Now, it is true that we know almost nothing about this show at the time. I will admit that. But if this show ends up being about a stranger who moves in to 50’s mansion, due to his financial difficulties, and they develop an unlikely friendship? Well, you will definitely be getting a call from my lawyer. Mark my words, Fox, if there is even a single mention of crank calling Lloyd Banks you will be buried so deep in litigation that you won’t be able to see the sun until midseason, when your terrible comedy is almost certainly cancelled.

I may also be willing to discuss appearing in a recurring role.

Like most of you I often wonder aloud to myself “what is Ray J doing now? And how much money did he make last week?” Well, the answer to those questions are “not a whole lot” and “fifty grand” respectively.

It seems that Ray J’s finances benefitted a great deal last week from sales of a certain home movie that he shot with the assistance of his girlfriend at the time. While Ray has been making money from sales of this tape for a while, this was a record setting week. According to TMZ it usually takes in $90k every 3 months That’s a 566% increase. If you’re wondering where the sudden surge of increase in Ray J’s (former) sex life comes from I’m willing to bet you haven’t been on the internet in about a week.

I hate to say it, Ray J, but I’m not impressed. “One Wish” was nine years ago. “Sexy Can I” was six years ago. Even For The Love Of Ray J was four years ago. The most notoriety you’ve had since then was for the Kim K sex tape (and let’s be honest, no one was looking at Ray). The closest thing you’ve had to a hit was “I Hit It First” which was about, you guessed it, Miss Kardashian.

At this point Ray J seems to have gone from a respected artist to a hanger-on, riding Kim’s coattails. Get back to your roots, Ray. Hopefully the upcoming Raydiation 2 puts you back on, but until then I’m giving Ray J -30.

Common has signed on to host the reality series Framework, a new show pitting 13 aspiring furniture makers against each other for a $100,000 prize and a furniture manufacturing deal.

Say goodbye to Common everyone. The Chicago MC that brought us “Love of My Life” and “Southside” is gone; he belongs to White America now. We held out hope when he was in Street Kings and American Gangster, we winced when he was in Date Night and we started to see the end when he was in New Years Eve. This new show is finally the end. The Black Bob Villa is now an Actor/Rapper, not the other way around.

I say good for him. He hasn’t put out any good music lately (disclaimer: I didn’t listen to Nobody’s Smiling) and he’s not fucking around with GOOD Music anymore. He might as well throw in the towel and start cashing those Wayne Brady checks. I’m giving him 5 SC points because he’s not pretending to be anything he’s not and he’s still cashing them checks.

Kanye has always been outspoken, but he’s taken that to whole new levels since the release of Yeezus in Summer 2013. With regular on-stage rants targeting everything from the media, to consumerism, to his own sense of self worth, he’s taken “Kanye doing Kanye” to the limit. In the past 18 months Kanye has gone full Kanye.

So it doesn’t surprise me that Yeezy recently turned down a $4.5 million offer for a 3 week Las Vegas residency. If you’re wondering what that breaks down to, I’ll save you the time: it’s $148.80 a minute. Kanye could take a twenty-minute nap and wake up three grand richer. Every time he was on the toilet he would be laughing hysterically, because that shit was worth four digits.

But that’s not Kanye. If Yeezus taught us anything, it’s that Kanye doesn’t want to play by anybody else’s rules anymore. He’s just having fun preaching from his stage-mountain.

I mean, wouldn’t you?

Showing up to work at the same place 3 days a week for 3 weeks is getting awfully close to an office job, and in an office job you have bosses. Kanye West doesn’t have a price tag, and for sticking by his principles in the face of overwhelming cash I’m awarding him +15 street cred.

Having said that, if Kanye’s residency slot is open, I have far less integrity. Get at me, Vegas.

Dipset member and cape-enthusiast Cam’ron recently unveiled the newest addition to his line of merch: a surgical “Ebola” mask emblazoned with his own face. Available for only $19.99, the official Dipset store guarantees that these will “provides complete protection while remaining light and comfortable”

I think this is great. Never mind the fact that Ebola can’t be transmitted through air, Cam is looking out for his people in the street and ensuring that they (and their families. One size fits all!) remain alive and healthy at least until his next album drops. And by outfitting these with his own image, we are constantly reminded that our medical faculties are in the capable hands of Dr. Killa Cam and his enormous, fuzzy, pink hat.

Damn right.

I’m hoping this doesn’t end here. I want to walk in to Target next year and see these on a wall alongside Meek Mill’s line of insulin shots and Gucci Mane Brand Cough Syrup that is totally only used for medical purposes, I swear.

For thinking outside the box I’m giving Cam a +10, but I’m willing to up that to +50 if I turn on the news in a month and see thousands of protesters in Hong Kong concealing their identities under the image of a smiling Cam’ron (and, of course, his enormous, fuzzy, pink hat).
