During an appearance on the DL Hughley show, Snoop Dogg was asked what disappoints him most about the game today. His answer was “that a female emcee doesn’t get the respect she deserves…It’s more about what she looks like than she sounds like”.
Wow, what a nice forward thinking response from Snoop Dogg. Of all the things about the game he could speak out on (overt commercialism, Lack of regionalism, not enough Young Thug Mixtapes) he chose to take a stand in defense of women. Sexism is still too prevalent in society and rap music is no exception. If Snoop has his way Nicki Minaj will be shooting her next album cover lookin like Michelle Obama #progress.
Had Snoop been given more time, I’m sure he would have gone on to comment on the recent beef between a male rap icon and young come-up Iggy Azalea. After posting a picture comparing her to a Wayans Brother, this rapper proceeded to call her a “cunt” and a “little stupid ass bitch”. Iggy responded with class, coming off as more offended than aggressive. I’m sure if we listen to Snoop’s upcoming interviews he will go on to defend Iggy, furthering his crusade for the common woman.
Edit: My editor has just informed me that the rapper beefing with Iggy was in fact Snoop Dogg. Way to stick to your fucking guns bro, now you’re like that guy that gets caught calling someone a nigger (hard r) and then catches a Knick game with Al Sharpton to make up for it. Snoop’s losing 5 points for insincerity.
